Job description
Established automotive dealerships and workshop groups across multiple Australian states are seeking experienced technicians with the technical background and professional records to support their next career move. Opportunities span European, luxury, Japanese, Korean and emerging EV brands, with positions ranging from general automotive technicians through to senior, diagnostic, master and specialist roles. The selection process is focused on verifiable skills and real workshop experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their qualifications, employment history and hands-on technical capabilities through reliable supporting documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Perform scheduled vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle faults
- Complete complex mechanical repairs and component replacements
- Use manufacturer and industry-standard diagnostic equipment
- Conduct vehicle inspections and accurately identify faults
- Apply manufacturer specifications and approved repair procedures
- Work with electronic control systems and ECU technology
- Diagnose and service hybrid and electric vehicles where qualified
- Carry out high-voltage vehicle work in accordance with required safety procedures
- Document inspections, diagnostic findings and completed repairs
- Maintain high standards of workshop safety and housekeeping
- Work collaboratively with service advisors, technicians and workshop management
- Deliver reliable, accurate and quality-focused repair outcomes
Requirements
- Minimum five years of relevant automotive technician experience
- Previous dealership or recognised OEM workshop experience
- Relevant automotive trade qualification
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Demonstrated vehicle diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Verifiable employment history and technical experience
- Manufacturer-specific training or certifications where applicable
- Advanced diagnostic equipment experience is highly regarded
- ECU programming experience is advantageous
- EV and hybrid vehicle experience is highly regarded
- High-voltage system experience or certification is advantageous
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to safe working practices and quality workmanship
- Completed TRA Skills Assessment
- Completed required English-language testing
- Ability to provide supporting evidence for qualifications and employment history
- Genuine willingness to relocate to Australia
- Suitable overseas candidates may be considered for sponsorship
