Experienced Hairdressers and Barbers are wanted for a busy unisex salon in Tauranga.

This is a full-time Barber / Hairdresser job in Tauranga, New Zealand, paying $30 to $32 per hour. You cut, colour and style for a mixed client list, with plenty of men's grooming in the mix. The salon is modern and air-conditioned. The team is growing and wants creative people who keep clients happy and stick to strict health and hygiene rules.

The salon is an accredited employer. Visa sponsorship is on offer if a suitable candidate needs it.

Key responsibilities

  • Consult clients on cuts, colour, styling, beard shaping and grooming
  • Cut, trim, taper and shape with clippers, scissors, razors and pro tools
  • Beard and moustache trims, wet shaves, hot towel treatments
  • Shampoo, condition and treat hair and scalp; colour, tint, highlight, bleach, straighten, relax or perm
  • Blow-dry and style with straighteners, curling irons and products; advise on hair care, upkeep and the right products
  • Clean and sanitise tools and stations to hygiene and safety standards; book appointments, run schedules, take payments

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years' full-time experience as a Hairdresser or Barber
  • Proven technical skill: haircutting, colouring, styling, men's grooming
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Works efficiently and cooperatively in a team
  • Sound knowledge of salon hygiene and safety practices
