A senior farming leadership opportunity is available for an experienced agricultural professional who can demonstrate a credible record of managing people, resources and production outcomes. This role is about more than keeping farming operations running. You will be expected to apply your experience to long-term planning, land development, productivity improvement and commercial farm management across substantial agricultural assets in Western Australia. Your previous experience, qualifications and practical capabilities will be important in establishing the confidence required to take ownership of the operation. The successful candidate will work closely with agronomy and agricultural teams to make informed decisions across cropping, pasture, fodder and irrigation. Key responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the performance of large-scale farming operations
- Lead, coach and develop farm overseers and machinery operators
- Establish seasonal priorities and long-term production strategies
- Manage cropping, pasture, fodder and irrigation programs
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts and operational expenditure
- Monitor production performance, farm costs and productivity indicators
- Oversee oats, barley, wheat, vetch and irrigated sorghum production
- Work alongside agronomists to improve soil condition, pasture performance and crop yields
- Coordinate fodder production with wider livestock and feed requirements
- Assess opportunities for land improvement and operational development
- Develop and implement capital projects that support productivity and efficiency
- Promote precision agriculture and technology-led farm management
- Maintain accurate digital farm records and use data to guide decisions
- Implement sustainable land and soil management practices
- Manage workforce planning, training and employee performance
- Maintain strong safety, accountability and continuous improvement standards
- Manage contractors, suppliers and agricultural service providers
- Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Review operational results and identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain accountability for operational and financial performance
Requirements
- Demonstrated senior experience within farming or agricultural operations
- Proven experience managing large-scale cropping, livestock or mixed farming
- Strong practical knowledge of agricultural production and farm management
- Demonstrated understanding of agronomy, chemical use and weed management
- Experience with farm budgets, financial controls and production planning
- Strong understanding of agricultural machinery and modern farming practices
- Experience using GPS, precision agriculture and digital farm-management systems
- Proven leadership experience managing agricultural employees
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage operational priorities
- Ability to demonstrate and verify relevant employment experience
- Ability to provide evidence of relevant qualifications and professional capabilities
- Strong strategic planning, communication and problem-solving skills
- Agriculture, Agribusiness or related tertiary qualification highly regarded
- ChemCert or equivalent qualification advantageous
- Current driver's licence required
- HR or MC licence advantageous
- Ability to meet Australian employment and visa requirements
