Butchery Assistant Manager

You will support the Butchery Manager while helping maintain the quality, efficiency, and service standards of the department. The role suits a dependable trade professional who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of consistent standards, and is prepared to contribute beyond individual cutting and preparation tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the smooth daily operation of the butchery department
  • Carry out professional meat cutting, preparation, carcass breakdown, and packing
  • Apply strong knowledge of meat cuts to maintain product quality and presentation
  • Assist with guiding and supporting other team members
  • Contribute to staff training and daily workflow coordination
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, rotation, and wastage reduction
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety requirements
  • Deliver knowledgeable and professional customer service
  • Help maintain an organised, productive, and clean department
  • Work with the Butchery Manager to address operational requirements
  • Take responsibility for maintaining consistent standards throughout daily operations

Requirements

  • Proven professional experience as a Butcher
  • Strong practical knowledge of meat cuts and preparation
  • Demonstrated carcass breakdown and knife-handling skills
  • Ability to provide credible evidence of previous butchery employment
  • Previous experience supporting or supervising team members is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Reliable and consistent approach to attendance and work responsibilities
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality standards
  • Strong understanding of food safety and workplace safety
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Willingness to work Tuesday to Saturday
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the relevant sponsorship pathway
