Job description
A growing hospitality operation in New South Wales is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie to join its professional kitchen team. This position is designed for a chef who has more than theoretical knowledge — you can demonstrate where you have worked, what responsibilities you have handled and the level of kitchen experience you have developed. You will play an active role in food preparation and service, taking responsibility for your section while working alongside the wider culinary team. The menu draws inspiration from Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, providing exposure to distinctive ingredients, preparation methods and contemporary presentation. The right candidate will bring a reliable work history, practical kitchen skills and a genuine commitment to maintaining professional standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage preparation and service responsibilities within an allocated kitchen section
- Complete daily mise en place to required freshness and quality standards
- Prepare and cook dishes consistently according to established kitchen standards
- Maintain accurate portion sizes and presentation throughout service
- Monitor ingredients and ensure appropriate storage and stock conditions
- Maintain clean and organised workstations throughout preparation and service
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements
- Work efficiently during busy lunch and dinner periods
- Coordinate with chefs and kitchen team members to maintain smooth service
- Assist with coaching and supporting junior kitchen staff
- Communicate effectively with senior chefs regarding preparation and service requirements
- Help maintain a professional and cooperative kitchen culture
Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant Chef de Partie experience
- Proven hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen
- Ability to independently manage responsibilities within a kitchen section
- Strong food preparation and cooking skills
- Understanding of professional food safety and hygiene standards
- Consistent approach to food quality and presentation
- Ability to work effectively under service pressure
- Reliable and punctual work history
- Strong teamwork and workplace communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts across lunch and dinner service
- Ability to provide genuine and verifiable evidence of professional culinary experience
