Job description
A professional kitchen opportunity is available in Australian Capital Territory (ACT) for a Qualified Chef with established experience in Asian cuisine and commercial wok operations. The role requires a chef who can step into a busy service environment and demonstrate dependable cooking skills from day one. Your ability to handle a commercial wok, prepare Asian dishes consistently and work across different sections will be central to the role. Relevant qualifications and a verifiable employment background will be important when assessing your suitability.
Key responsibilities
- Operate the commercial wok station confidently during service
- Prepare and cook a variety of Asian cuisine dishes
- Maintain consistent flavour, presentation, portioning and food quality
- Carry out preparation and mise en place requirements efficiently
- Work across wok, grill, fryer, pan and other kitchen sections as required
- Maintain efficient workflow during busy periods
- Apply food safety and hygiene procedures throughout food preparation and service
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements
- Assist with stock rotation and monitoring of kitchen supplies
- Use ingredients responsibly and minimise food wastage
- Keep preparation areas and kitchen workstations clean and organised
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with the kitchen team
Requirements
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent trade qualification
- Minimum two years of experience in a commercial wok-station environment
- Demonstrated commercial experience cooking Asian cuisine
- Practical experience across wok, grill, fryer, pan and preparation sections
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistent food standards
- Sound knowledge of commercial food safety and hygiene practices
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable and professional approach to kitchen work
- Availability for evenings, weekends and public holiday shifts as part of a rotating roster
- Ability to provide verifiable qualification and employment documentation
