Job description
A full-time opportunity is available in NSW for a Chef de Partie / Pizza Maker who can demonstrate genuine commercial kitchen experience and the ability to deliver consistently across different styles of service. This role is suited to a hands-on chef who has built solid experience in gastro and pub dining and can also demonstrate real pizza-making capability. You will be trusted to take responsibility for your section, prepare quality food and maintain professional standards when service gets busy. The role provides exposure to both traditional kitchen production and dedicated pizza operations, making practical versatility an important part of the position. Previous employment and experience will be supported through professional references and verifiable work history as part of the selection process.
Key responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of an assigned kitchen section
- Prepare and cook gastro-style and pub-style menu items
- Produce pizzas to a consistent commercial standard
- Prepare pizza dough, toppings and other ingredients
- Operate and manage pizza ovens effectively
- Complete mise en place and preparation before service
- Maintain food presentation and portion consistency
- Monitor food quality throughout each service
- Organise ingredients, equipment and workstation requirements
- Complete stock rotation and monitor ingredient usage
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Work efficiently during busy and high-volume services
- Adapt between gastro dining, functions and pizza production
- Communicate clearly with the wider kitchen team
- Provide guidance and practical support to junior kitchen staff
- Assist with menu development and kitchen projects
- Maintain a professional and cooperative kitchen environment
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional commercial kitchen experience
- Previous Chef de Partie or comparable senior kitchen experience
- Strong gastro or pub dining background
- Proven hands-on pizza-making experience is essential
- Experience with pizza dough preparation and oven operation
- Approximately 3–5 years of professional kitchen experience preferred
- Ability to independently manage a kitchen section
- Strong understanding of professional food preparation and cooking methods
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures
- Demonstrated ability to maintain quality during busy service
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional presentation and workplace conduct
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- Reliable and adaptable approach to work
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Leadership or mentoring experience is desirable
- Professional references required to verify previous experience
- Currently based in Australia
- Available to commence within a reasonable timeframe
