Job description
We are looking for an Asian Chef who can demonstrate genuine hands-on experience and consistently deliver quality food in a professional kitchen environment. This opportunity is suited to chefs whose practical abilities, cooking knowledge, and workplace discipline are reflected in the way they prepare, present, and manage food. The successful candidate will be expected to work confidently with established recipes and kitchen systems, maintain consistent standards during service, and contribute positively to a team-focused workplace. Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Asian cuisine according to established recipes and standards
- Demonstrate consistent cooking techniques and food preparation skills
- Organise ingredients and kitchen preparation requirements for service
- Plan and coordinate daily cooking and preparation activities
- Assist with menu planning and estimating food and labour requirements
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Maintain consistent portioning, taste, appearance, and presentation
- Prepare sauces and other menu components
- Order and manage food supplies as required
- Operate ovens, grills, and other commercial cooking equipment
- Monitor and regulate cooking temperatures
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures
- Prepare food according to relevant dietary requirements
- Discuss kitchen and food preparation issues with management
- Work effectively with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house teams
- Demonstrate cooking and preparation techniques where required
- Assist with staff training and development when required
- Support appropriate food storage, preservation, and freezing procedures
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen
- Identify quality concerns and communicate opportunities for improvement
Requirements
- Relevant formal cookery qualification and/or at least three years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience as an Asian Chef or in a closely related culinary role
- Ability to demonstrate practical Asian cooking knowledge and techniques
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
- Proven ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation
- Ability to follow recipes, preparation methods, and established kitchen systems
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a professional kitchen team
- Reliable and dependable work approach
- Good communication and cooperation skills
- Professional and ethical approach to workplace responsibilities
- Ability to remain composed and focused during busy service periods
