Job description

A hospitality venue in New South Wales is looking for an experienced Chef who can bring proven practical skills, dependable work habits and a genuine passion for food to a busy culinary team. This is a hands-on position for someone comfortable moving between grill, pans, fryers and larder while maintaining quality throughout busy services. You will prepare established favourites alongside fresh and seasonal dishes in a modern kitchen environment. The opportunity is particularly suited to chefs who can clearly demonstrate their professional background and consistently deliver the standards expected of a busy hospitality operation.
Key responsibilities
- Organise kitchen stations, utensils and equipment before service
- Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and service requirements
- Cook across grill, pans, fryers and larder sections
- Deliver consistent meals during busy and high-volume service periods
- Maintain appropriate food presentation and portion standards
- Prepare classic menu items and fresh seasonal specials
- Modify dishes where reasonably required to meet customer requests
- Inspect ingredients for quality and freshness
- Maintain appropriate food storage and stock rotation
- Monitor stock levels and assist with kitchen ordering
- Reduce food waste through effective preparation and stock management
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures
- Work closely with the wider kitchen team to maintain smooth service
- Contribute ideas for new dishes, ingredients and menu improvements
Requirements
- Proven professional experience as a Chef
- Practical experience across grill, pans, fryers and larder
- Ability to demonstrate genuine and verifiable culinary employment experience
- Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills
- Ability to maintain consistent standards during high-pressure services
- Understanding of professional kitchen operations and procedures
- Knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Understanding of stock control and waste minimisation
- Ability to work effectively as part of a professional kitchen team
- Reliable and positive approach to workplace responsibilities
- Strong attention to food quality, preparation and presentation
- Flexible availability for day, evening and weekend shifts
- Current Food Safety Certificate
- Commitment to full-time employment
- Exceptional eligible candidates may be considered for sponsorship after six months of full-time employment
