Precision engineering shop in Sydney wants evening-shift CNC Machinists.

Quick facts first. The role is full-time in Sydney, NSW, paying $40 to $50 per hour, and several people are being hired. Setting and running machines fills 70% of the job. The rest is programming and checking parts on production and prototype jobs for defence, oil and gas, construction, infrastructure and manufacturing customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Program, set and run CNC mills, lathes and a sliding head lathe
  • Set up tooling and work holdings and get jobs ready for each machining centre
  • Design work holdings for prototypes and production
  • Do final inspection and measuring on finished parts
  • Work through production orders mixed with prototypes for manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, defence and infrastructure customers
  • Keep building your CNC programming skills
  • Take ownership of the machines you know from your first shift

Requirements

  • Machinist or CNC machinist for 4+ years
  • Recent CNC programming and setting: 4+ years
  • Happy setting and operating CNC machines (70% of the role)
  • Fitting and Turning qualification, or similar
  • CAM software programming
  • Strong on computers; reads and interprets engineering drawings and documents
  • Keen to learn and grow; A++ work ethic; great team player who never says "not my job"
  • Works solo and in a team
  • Must have the right to work in Australia
  • CAD-CAM proficiency (desirable)
  • Fusion360 proficiency (desirable)
  • Okuma OSP proficiency (desirable)
