Job description
A progressive hospitality business in New South Wales is looking for a skilled Cook who can demonstrate real-world kitchen experience and deliver reliable results in a structured breakfast and brunch operation. The role is ideal for someone who doesn't need constant supervision, understands how to maintain consistency during service and takes pride in doing things properly. Your practical experience, work history and ability to operate within established standards will be important in this position.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfast and brunch dishes according to approved recipes
- Deliver consistent food quality, presentation and portion sizes
- Manage assigned cooking responsibilities independently during service
- Complete daily food preparation and mise en place efficiently
- Follow established recipes, preparation methods and kitchen systems
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to keep service running efficiently
- Monitor ingredient preparation and advise the team of any shortages
- Maintain an organised workstation throughout preparation and service
- Accept direction and feedback from supervisors and apply it effectively
- Support kitchen operations during weekends and public holidays
Requirements
- Commercial cooking experience in a professional hospitality environment
- Demonstrated experience preparing breakfast or brunch menus
- Ability to confidently manage cooking duties without constant supervision
- Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills
- Ability to work accurately within established recipes and procedures
- Reliable and consistent approach to work
- Good communication and team-working ability
- Professional attitude and respectful workplace behaviour
- Ability to remain calm and productive during busy service periods
- Willingness to learn and adapt to established systems
- Relevant employment history that can be supported by genuine documentation
