Job description
A hands-on opportunity is available in Western Australia for an experienced Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker with a strong background in equipment maintenance and fault diagnosis. This position is suited to a tradesperson whose qualifications and practical experience demonstrate genuine capability in quarry, mining and fixed-plant environments. You will work with a range of mobile and stationary equipment, helping identify faults, complete repairs and maintain reliable equipment performance. The role offers variety across workshop and field environments, including customer locations in metropolitan, regional and remote areas. Key responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs on mobile and stationary equipment
- Service and maintain crushing, screening and processing equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Diagnose mechanical faults and determine appropriate repair actions
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems using technical documentation and schematics
- Test hydraulic pressures and flows to identify system faults
- Interpret OEM manuals, procedures and technical information
- Diagnose basic faults in 12V and 24V electrical control systems
- Read electrical schematics and perform voltage and continuity testing
- Complete pre-delivery inspections and equipment preparation
- Attend customer sites to complete servicing and repair work
- Provide technical support across metropolitan, regional and remote locations
- Travel to regional and remote sites when required
- Assess equipment condition and identify maintenance or repair requirements
- Prepare accurate technical and equipment condition reports
- Document completed repairs, inspections, checks and equipment settings
- Maintain photographic records of work completed
- Apply manufacturer specifications and OEM standards to maintenance activities
- Communicate with customers regarding equipment condition and completed work
- Follow site safety procedures and safe maintenance practices
Requirements
- Relevant trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking or a related mechanical trade
- Minimum 2 years of post-training experience
- Demonstrated experience in quarry, mining or fixed-plant environments
- Experience maintaining and repairing crushing or processing equipment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
- Practical experience with hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and OEM documentation
- Understanding of 12V and 24V electrical control systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Ability to conduct basic voltage and continuity testing
- Trade experience that can be supported by verifiable employment evidence
- Ability to provide evidence of relevant qualifications and work history
- Full unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
- HR Licence desirable
- Forklift Licence desirable
- Physically capable of carrying out manual and site-based work
- Willingness to work across workshop, customer and field environments
- Willingness to travel to regional and remote locations
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment
- Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol screening
- Proactive and self-motivated approach
- Strong technical problem-solving ability
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to build professional customer relationships
