Job description

A strong HDD professional is defined by more than a position title. It is the experience gained on real projects, the ability to operate safely under pressure and a work history that demonstrates consistency and reliability. We are seeking an experienced Directional Driller or Directional Drill Tracker for an opportunity in South Australia. This role is suited to professionals who can demonstrate genuine hands-on experience and take responsibility for delivering accurate, safe and high-quality work. You will work across a range of infrastructure projects involving power, communications, water, sewer and gas, requiring practical knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within established project systems. Previous service locating experience will be highly regarded. For suitably qualified overseas professionals, sponsorship is available. Key responsibilities

  • Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment in accordance with project and safety requirements
  • Perform drill tracking activities and monitor drilling operations
  • Support the delivery of HDD works across utility and infrastructure projects
  • Work across power, communications, water, sewer and gas projects
  • Interpret project instructions and follow approved drilling procedures
  • Monitor drilling conditions and communicate changes or issues to relevant team members
  • Assist with underground service locating and identification when required
  • Complete daily operational records and project documentation accurately
  • Conduct equipment checks and report maintenance or operational concerns
  • Follow site-specific safety, environmental and compliance procedures
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, drilling crews and project personnel
  • Maintain clear and professional communication throughout operations
  • Identify potential hazards and contribute to effective risk management
  • Maintain equipment, work areas and project activities in an organised manner
  • Deliver consistent workmanship and maintain required quality standards

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Directional Driller, Directional Drill Operator or Drill Tracker
  • Strong practical experience in horizontal directional drilling
  • Ability to demonstrate previous HDD employment and relevant responsibilities
  • Relevant industry qualifications, licences or accreditations
  • Service locating experience is an advantage
  • Demonstrated understanding of HDD safety practices and site requirements
  • Employment history that supports the level of experience claimed
  • Ability to provide evidence of relevant professional experience when required
  • Reliable and accountable approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Professional attitude and consistent work ethic
  • Ability to follow company systems, procedures and documentation requirements
  • Ability to work effectively across different infrastructure environments
  • Overseas candidates with genuine and demonstrable HDD experience are encouraged to apply
