Electrical Linesman and crane/borer operator

A range of positions is available with an electrical infrastructure contractor in New South Wales, offering experienced professionals the chance to work across distribution and transmission projects. Whether your background is in overhead distribution, transmission construction, tower work or plant operation, your existing skills can provide a strong foundation for building an Australian career. Overseas-qualified candidates are welcome to apply. Where appropriate, training and support may be provided to help bridge qualification or skills requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete overhead distribution line construction
  • Dress and stand electrical poles
  • Perform pole replacement works
  • Install and string overhead mains
  • Work across urban and rural network projects
  • Construct transmission poles and H structures
  • Assist with transmission tower erection
  • Climb poles, towers and other structures
  • Undertake conductor and line stringing
  • Interpret engineering drawings and network documentation
  • Inspect electrical transmission infrastructure
  • Carry out maintenance-related activities
  • Operate crane/borer plant where appropriately authorised
  • Complete ancillary construction tasks
  • Identify and resolve problems on site
  • Follow electrical safety and HSE procedures
  • Maintain quality standards throughout project work
  • Work cooperatively with other trades and crews
  • Travel to different project locations
  • Work on short away-from-home assignments
  • Undertake overtime when required

Requirements

  • Relevant professional experience in overhead linework
  • Distribution or transmission experience
  • Construction White Card
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Ability to interpret drawings, maps and network diagrams
  • Good practical problem-solving ability
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to work away from home when required
  • Certificate III ESI Transmission and Distribution Overhead preferred
  • Work at Heights preferred
  • CPR preferred
  • Dogging preferred
  • Rigging preferred
  • High Risk Work Licence preferred
  • Crane or plant operation experience advantageous
  • Overseas qualifications and experience considered
  • Willingness to complete Australian skills or qualification requirements where necessary
  • Sponsorship available for suitable overseas applicants
