Job description

A permanent full-time opportunity is available for a skilled Electrician to join an established electrical services team in New Zealand. This position is suited to a tradesperson with a solid record of commercial electrical work who can demonstrate both technical competence and professional reliability. You will work across a varied range of projects, including infrastructure, commercial electrical services, streetlighting and other essential works. The role provides an opportunity to bring your existing trade knowledge into a professional New Zealand environment where initiative, independent decision-making and quality workmanship are valued. Key responsibilities

  • Perform commercial electrical installation and maintenance work
  • Complete electrical works across infrastructure and development projects
  • Install, maintain and repair streetlighting systems
  • Interpret electrical plans, drawings and technical specifications
  • Inspect systems and identify electrical faults
  • Carry out fault-finding, testing and corrective work
  • Take ownership of allocated electrical tasks and projects
  • Work independently while maintaining required quality standards
  • Apply safe and compliant electrical practices at all times
  • Maintain accurate, reliable and high-quality workmanship
  • Communicate with supervisors, team members and project stakeholders
  • Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment and work vehicles
  • Adjust effectively to different project types and work environments
  • Contribute to successful project delivery and a positive team culture

Requirements

  • Current EWRB Electrical Registration
  • Current New Zealand Practising Licence or eligibility to obtain one
  • 3–5+ years of relevant commercial electrical experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on electrical installation and maintenance experience
  • Verifiable employment history within the electrical trade
  • Ability to demonstrate genuine technical and practical capability
  • Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for assigned work
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Consistent focus on workmanship and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable, proactive and professional work approach
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Ability to work productively within a small professional team
  • Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand or suitability for employer-supported sponsorship
