Job description

A specialist passive fire protection team in Western Australia is seeking a Fire Technician / Carpenter who can demonstrate genuine trade experience and the practical ability to perform quality work on site. This role is suited to someone whose experience can be supported through a clear employment history and relevant documentation. You will work across service, maintenance and construction environments, applying practical trade knowledge to fire-rated doors, passive fire systems, fire stopping and penetration protection. The position offers the opportunity to bring established trade skills into a professional Australian work environment while continuing to develop specialist passive fire protection knowledge.

Key responsibilities

  • Install and replace fire-rated doors and door assemblies
  • Repair, adjust and maintain fire doors
  • Carry out fire door compliance and rectification works
  • Install passive fire penetration protection
  • Complete fire stopping and sealing of penetrations
  • Install passive fire protection systems
  • Perform general carpentry associated with passive fire works
  • Complete defect rectification and repair activities
  • Carry out scheduled service and maintenance work
  • Support construction and new installation projects
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings and technical specifications
  • Follow Australian Standards and manufacturer installation requirements
  • Check completed work for accuracy, quality and compliance
  • Record job details and completed works accurately
  • Maintain safe working practices across project sites
  • Communicate clearly with clients, supervisors and other trades

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in carpentry, fire protection, fire doors or a comparable trade
  • Genuine and verifiable employment history
  • Ability to provide supporting evidence of relevant work experience
  • Strong practical trade and hands-on skills
  • Good understanding of quality and compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective problem-solving and fault-rectification skills
  • Ability to follow plans, specifications and technical instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, organised and professional approach
  • Current Australian driver's licence or ability to obtain one where applicable
  • Construction White Card
  • Relevant carpentry or trade qualification is highly regarded
  • Previous passive fire protection experience is highly regarded
  • Experience with fire-rated doors, penetration sealing or fire stopping is highly regarded
  • Ability to satisfy relevant sponsorship and visa eligibility requirements
