Job description
Your flooring experience should speak for itself. A well-established installation team in Queensland is seeking two skilled Floor Layers who can demonstrate genuine experience across carpet and vinyl work. You’ll be trusted with projects ranging from residential installations and new builds to commercial and retail work. The focus is on practical trade knowledge, accurate preparation, quality installation and dependable job-site performance.
Key responsibilities
- Review project requirements and accurately measure installation areas
- Interpret plans and calculate flooring material requirements
- Remove existing floor coverings and prepare surfaces for new installations
- Complete subfloor preparation in accordance with Australian Standards
- Install broadloom carpet including underlay, gripper, seaming and stretching
- Install carpet tiles on residential and commercial projects
- Install luxury vinyl plank flooring with accurate cuts and professional finishing
- Fit trims, thresholds, edges and transition details
- Complete repair and rectification work when required
- Inspect completed work to ensure a quality finish
- Maintain tools, vehicle and work areas in a safe and orderly condition
- Communicate clearly with customers, builders and colleagues throughout projects
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional Floor Layer experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank
- Proven ability to prepare different subfloor surfaces correctly
- Strong practical understanding of flooring installation techniques
- Ability to read plans and work accurately from measurements
- Current driver's licence required before commencement
- Current construction White Card required before commencement
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Reliable work ethic and ability to meet project requirements
- Physically capable of regular flooring installation work
- Ability to work independently and within a professional installation team
- Commercial sheet vinyl experience including welded seams, coving and wall vinyl is highly regarded
- Advanced floor preparation capability is highly regarded
- Floating floor and engineered timber installation experience is highly regarded
- Overseas applicants with relevant, verifiable flooring experience may be considered for visa sponsorship
