Lead a brand-new hostel and hotel property in Auckland as its General Manager.

You report into a group with hostels, hybrid stays and food and beverage venues across Australia and New Zealand. Four department heads answer to you: Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance. Guests, culture, numbers and compliance all sit with you.

Key responsibilities

  • Run the full property and manage the Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance heads
  • Be accountable for guest experience, team culture, finances, standards and compliance
  • Set up the operation and build the leadership team before opening
  • Take a new property from plans to launch and shape its culture
  • After opening, keep every area connected, support your leaders and keep teams aligned
  • Work closely with the wider group team through the pre-opening stage

Requirements

  • Experience running a busy hotel or hostel operation
  • Knows lodging, yield management and what drives commercial performance
  • Comfortable with budgets and labour
  • Comfortable with revenue and cost control
  • Some food and beverage exposure, ideally across bars, restaurants or busy social venues
  • Knowledge of the Auckland hospitality and lodging scene is helpful but not essential
  • A cover letter is required to be considered for interview
