As Head Chef, you will take responsibility for culinary standards, kitchen performance and team leadership within a busy premium hospitality environment in Queensland. Key responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for kitchen operations and performance
  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team throughout preparation and service
  • Develop and deliver contemporary seasonal Japanese fusion menus
  • Maintain high standards of flavour, presentation, consistency and portion control
  • Coordinate food preparation and service in a high-volume environment
  • Train, guide and develop kitchen team members
  • Monitor kitchen workflow and improve efficiency where required
  • Manage food ordering, stock control and supplier coordination
  • Monitor food costs and support effective kitchen budget management
  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and workplace standards
  • Ensure every dish meets established culinary and presentation requirements
  • Build a professional, cooperative and accountable kitchen culture

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef
  • Strong background in a modern, premium or high-end kitchen environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a professional kitchen team
  • Experience with Japanese, Asian or fusion cuisine is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to create and implement seasonal menus
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance
  • Experience managing stock, purchasing and food costs
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to perform consistently during high-volume service
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation
  • Ability to provide supporting evidence of previous professional experience
  • Employment history and culinary credentials should be genuine, verifiable and relevant to the position
