Job description

We are seeking qualified Heavy Vehicle Technicians across Victoria who can demonstrate genuine trade experience and the technical ability to maintain and repair heavy commercial vehicles safely and reliably. This opportunity is suited to technicians who are confident carrying out diagnostics, servicing, fault-finding and mechanical repairs across a range of heavy vehicles. Positions may be available across workshop and field service environments, providing exposure to different vehicle fleets, systems and repair requirements. Candidates with a strong and verifiable employment history will have the opportunity to apply their practical skills within professional heavy automotive operations while continuing to develop their technical experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical and diesel-related faults
  • Perform repairs and component replacements as required
  • Complete scheduled maintenance and corrective repair work
  • Inspect trucks, trailers and associated mechanical systems
  • Use appropriate diagnostic tools and testing equipment
  • Identify faults and complete effective troubleshooting
  • Support breakdown and field service requirements
  • Work across different heavy vehicle brands and customer fleets
  • Record completed servicing, repairs and diagnostic findings
  • Follow safety procedures and manufacturer or workplace requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to a professional standard
  • Work effectively with other mechanics, supervisors and customers

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology is essential
  • Relevant hands-on experience as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic
  • Demonstrated ability in heavy vehicle servicing, repairs and diagnostics
  • Genuine and verifiable employment history relevant to the position
  • Ability to provide supporting evidence of qualifications and work experience
  • Current Australian driver’s licence
  • Australian working rights appropriate to the role
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship
  • Reliable work ethic and professional attitude
  • Ability to work in either workshop or field service environments
