Job description

We are seeking qualified Maintenance Fitters and Electrical Fitter Mechanics to maintain highly automated food production equipment. The work requires more than a trade certificate — you’ll need genuine practical experience, strong fault-finding ability and a proven understanding of industrial maintenance. You’ll be involved in breakdown response, preventative maintenance, repairs, servicing and shutdown work while helping production teams maintain reliable equipment and minimise downtime.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to production equipment breakdowns and urgent maintenance issues
- Diagnose mechanical faults using practical fault-finding techniques
- Troubleshoot electrical and automated machinery
- Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Inspect machinery and identify worn, damaged or faulty components
- Repair, replace and adjust production equipment components
- Investigate recurring breakdowns and assist with root-cause solutions
- Maintain PLC-controlled and automated production systems
- Work with VSDs and electrical control systems where applicable
- Assist with planned shutdowns and maintenance improvement projects
- Support production teams with timely technical assistance
- Help reduce equipment downtime through effective maintenance practices
- Maintain equipment reliability and operational performance
- Follow workplace safety, food safety, electrical and quality procedures
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
Requirements
- Recognised Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner trade qualification
- Certificate III Electrical or Electrical Fitter Mechanic trade qualification for electrical positions
- Demonstrated industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience
- Minimum 5 years' industrial electrical experience for electrical applicants
- Genuine hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment
- Strong mechanical or electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems
- Experience working with automated production machinery
- Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC experience preferred
- VSD experience for electrical applicants
- Current unrestricted Class C driver's licence
- High Risk Electrical Work Licence desirable
- MEX or another Maintenance Management System experience desirable
- Strong safety awareness and attention to quality
- Ability to work effectively with production and maintenance teams
- Ability to work independently when required
- Availability for rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights and weekends
- Australian-recognised trade qualification required for sponsorship consideration
- Sponsorship available for suitably qualified candidates already based in Australia
