Job description

A Perth fencing manufacturer wants a skilled Metal Fabricator / Welder for steel fabrication and MIG welding.

The job is full-time and long-term, based in Perth, WA. You will cut and assemble steel, build frames and gates, and weld. There is scope to learn other parts of the factory as well.

Only applicants already in Australia with valid working rights can apply. Working Holiday visa holders (417/462) are eligible if they meet the skills and experience bar. Sponsorship under the subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa is possible, subject to the occupation, a skills assessment and immigration requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Cut, shape, prep and assemble steel
  • Fabricate frames, gates and other steel products
  • MIG weld, plus other welding processes as needed
  • Follow technical drawings and specs; run machines, equipment and hand tools
  • Inspect welds and finished products for accuracy and quality; learn and help in other factory areas

Requirements

  • Certificate III/IV in metal fabrication or welding, or a comparable overseas trade qualification
  • If qualified, at least 12 months of relevant skilled work in the past five years
  • If not formally qualified, at least three years of skilled metal fabrication and/or professional welding experience
  • Payslips and employer references showing your employment dates and skilled duties
  • Hands-on welding and fabrication competency
  • Living in Australia now, with valid working rights
  • Ready to sit a formal skills assessment if required
