Sheetmetal Tradesperson/CNC Operator

Job description

An established sheet metal engineering business in Auckland, New Zealand is seeking experienced CNC Operators and sheet metal tradespeople to join its production team. The opportunity is designed for professionals whose hands-on skills, technical experience and approach to quality can be clearly demonstrated. You’ll work with modern manufacturing technology in a structured production environment where accuracy, safe working practices and continuous improvement are part of the day-to-day operation.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate CNC punch, laser, tube laser and press brake machinery
  • Set up and run CNC equipment for sheet metal production
  • Work from technical drawings, measurements and production specifications
  • Inspect components to confirm dimensional and quality requirements
  • Complete production work accurately and efficiently
  • Apply established sheet metal techniques and manufacturing practices
  • Monitor equipment and report production or quality issues
  • Follow machinery operating procedures and workplace safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and organised production area
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the production team
  • Help identify opportunities to improve production methods
  • Contribute practical ideas to safety, efficiency and quality improvements

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on CNC operation experience
  • Experience with CNC punch, laser, tube laser cutting or press brake machinery
  • Trumpf experience is highly desirable
  • Relevant sheet metal trades experience of 2+ years may also be considered
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing
  • Ability to demonstrate relevant skills and previous industry experience
  • Strong attention to detail and precision
  • Commitment to producing quality work consistently
  • Reliable approach to workplace health and safety
  • Ability to work effectively within a production team
  • Positive approach to continuous improvement
  • Availability to work fixed day, night or graveyard shifts
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
