Job description
A busy automotive repair workshop in New Zealand is expanding its team and is seeking experienced Panel Beaters and Spray Painters who can demonstrate reliable, hands-on trade experience. This role is suited to professionals who take pride in producing quality repairs, understand the importance of completing work correctly from start to finish, and can confidently work across different vehicle makes and models. Your practical experience, employment background and trade capabilities will be important when assessing your suitability for the role. Candidates with genuine, verifiable industry experience are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities
- Complete vehicle panel repairs across a variety of makes and models
- Carry out panel beating and structural body repairs
- Perform spray painting and professional vehicle refinishing
- Complete rust repairs and restoration work
- Prepare panels and vehicle surfaces for painting
- Manage repair jobs from preparation through to completion
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Follow workshop procedures, safety requirements and repair processes
- Complete assigned work within required timeframes
- Work independently while maintaining consistent quality
- Communicate and cooperate effectively with team members
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
- Assist with company race car preparation, events and track days when required
- Support the wider workshop team during periods of increased workload
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience as a Panel Beater or Spray Painter
- Experience working across multiple vehicle makes and models
- Panel Beater applicants must have practical rust repair experience
- Ability to complete jobs from start to finish
- Strong understanding of automotive body repair or refinishing processes
- Ability to provide verifiable employment and experience information
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
- Reliable, energetic and committed approach to work
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team
- Good spoken English is essential
- NZ residency or an existing NZ work visa is preferred
- International applicants with suitable experience are welcome
- Sponsorship available for suitable overseas candidates
- Availability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week
- Willingness to work Saturdays during busy periods when required
