Job description

Diesel mechanic wanted for remote cattle station work in Western Australia.

A pastoral company needs two mechanics. The listing sits under Broome, WA, while the stations themselves are remote, in the far north of the state. It is a full-time position. You fix and service vehicles, trucks, bikes and station gear.

Key responsibilities

  • Regular servicing, maintenance and repairs on vehicles and machinery, plus fast response to faults and callouts
  • Safe use of machinery and tools, and supervising and training station staff on daily checks and services
  • Recording parts used for reordering and keeping common parts on the shelf

Requirements

  • Trade qualified: Diesel / Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
  • At least 2 years' experience in that trade
  • Mechanic experience in a similar role
  • A genuine passion for station life
  • Can run diagnostic and test equipment safely across the fleet
  • C Class driver's licence (essential)
  • Motorcycle licence, HR or MC licence would be an advantage
  • Handles tools and equipment efficiently and safely
  • Works independently and as part of a team in a remote spot
  • Finds innovative solutions when parts or tools are hard to get
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving strength, good communication and a positive attitude would be an advantage; fit for high temperatures and high humidity
