Job description

A busy Sydney stone workshop needs an experienced Stonemason to fabricate kitchen benchtops.

The essentials. Stonemason, Sydney, NSW. Full-time, permanent, long term. $92,000 - $137,000 per year + super. Immediate start. Hours are 7:30am-5:00pm Mon to Thu and 7:30am-4:00pm Fri, plus overtime and Saturday shifts if wanted. Natural and engineered stone, cut with 100% wet, water-fed processing.

Key responsibilities

  • Fabricate benchtops and other stone work in natural and manufactured stone
  • Cut, shape, polish and finish slabs
  • Laminate and mitre edges, producing tight mitred joins and clean finished edges
  • Read plans, drawings and measurements and work to them accurately and efficiently in a busy production shop
  • Keep workmanship and detail high and follow WHS procedures and company systems

Requirements

  • Proven stonemasonry and stone fabrication experience
  • Hands-on with natural and manufactured stone
  • Confident laminating, mitring, polishing and finishing
  • Reads and interprets plans and drawings; turns out consistently high-quality finishes
  • Works well solo or in a team
  • Sharp eye for detail and pride in the work
  • Reliable, hardworking and efficient at a fast pace
  • Physically able to do the work the role requires
  • Current driver's licence; White Card held or willing to get one
  • Forklift licence desirable, an advantage but not essential
  • 3+ years' relevant industry experience preferred; suitably skilled people with less experience also considered
