Job description
A full-time Stonemason opportunity is available in Queensland for an experienced tradesperson with a strong record of practical stonework. The role is designed for someone who can demonstrate genuine trade capability through relevant qualifications, hands-on experience and consistent quality workmanship. From interpreting plans and taking precise measurements to fabricating and installing finished stone products, you will be involved throughout the process. The work includes benchtops, splashbacks, fireplaces, barbecues and other custom stone applications. Candidates with clearly documented trade experience and the ability to demonstrate their technical skills are encouraged to apply
Key responsibilities
- Assess project requirements from drawings, plans and technical specifications
- Measure work areas and prepare accurate stonework dimensions
- Select and prepare suitable stone materials for each project
- Cut, shape, polish and finish stone components with precision
- Fabricate stone products according to required specifications
- Install benchtops, splashbacks and other stone surfaces
- Complete installation work for fireplaces, barbecues and custom stone features
- Check finished installations for accuracy, alignment and quality
- Work alongside construction and installation teams to meet project requirements
- Operate specialised machinery and hand tools used in stone fabrication
- Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in safe and serviceable condition
- Troubleshoot measurement, fabrication and installation issues
- Apply appropriate workplace health and safety practices
- Maintain professional standards throughout fabrication and installation work
Requirements
- Recognised qualification or formal training in stonemasonry
- Trade certificate in stonemasonry
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience
- Demonstrated experience in stone fabrication and installation
- Practical knowledge of measuring, cutting, shaping and finishing stone
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Competence with specialised stoneworking machinery and tools
- Strong attention to measurements, detail and finished quality
- Ability to identify and resolve practical installation challenges
- Reliable and consistent approach to professional workmanship
- Ability to collaborate effectively with construction and installation teams
- Good physical capacity for handling and installing stone materials
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality procedures
- Ability to provide verifiable evidence of qualifications and relevant work experience
