Truck Driver

Job description

For experienced Class 5 drivers, the licence is just the starting point. This opportunity is designed for professionals who can demonstrate real-world heavy transport capability and a track record that stands up to verification. Work across civil and infrastructure operations in New Zealand, handling material cartage, machinery transport and truck-and-trailer work. The position is suited to drivers who are comfortable around active worksites and can step in to support the wider site team when needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate Class 5 heavy vehicles across civil worksites
  • Transport aggregate and chip seal to construction and roading projects
  • Move excavators, loaders and other heavy machinery between sites
  • Operate truck and trailer and articulated vehicle combinations
  • Drive road ranger and automatic transmission trucks
  • Complete tipping and spreading duties
  • Carry out jack-knife operations when required
  • Load and self-load materials and equipment
  • Operate civil machinery where appropriately experienced
  • Support ground crews with practical site duties
  • Conduct vehicle and equipment safety checks
  • Secure loads correctly before transport
  • Work in accordance with site health and safety procedures

Requirements

  • Full Class 5 Driver Licence
  • WTR Endorsement
  • Demonstrable heavy vehicle driving experience
  • Truck and trailer or articulated driving experience
  • Road ranger or automatic transmission experience
  • Civil transport experience
  • Aggregate and chip seal cartage experience
  • Heavy machinery transport experience
  • Tip and spread experience preferred
  • Jack-knife experience preferred
  • Excavator, loader or roller operating experience preferred
  • Ability to verify previous employment and relevant driving experience
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Willingness to work hands-on around civil sites
  • Availability for Monday to Friday day shifts
  • Flexibility for occasional Saturday work
  • Sponsorship available for eligible and suitably experienced applicants
