Job description
A growing trailer manufacturing business is seeking an experienced MIG Welder for a full-time, permanent opportunity. The role is suited to a practical tradesperson whose experience can be demonstrated through hands-on welding, trailer assembly, component fitting and system installation. You’ll be involved in more than joining steel. From structural welding and chassis assembly through to fitting suspension, braking and specialised systems, your work will contribute directly to the finished trailer.
Key responsibilities
- Complete MIG welding on steel trailer frames and components
- Fabricate and assemble trailer structures to required specifications
- Read and work accurately from blueprints, drawings and welding specifications
- Measure, align and position components during assembly
- Fit chassis, suspension and braking components
- Install air, electrical and hydraulic trailer systems
- Fit accessories and customised trailer equipment
- Operate welding equipment and workshop tools safely
- Inspect finished welds for structural strength and visual quality
- Test installed systems and complete final quality checks
- Identify non-conforming materials, components or completed work
- Work with production team members to maintain efficient workflow
- Meet required quality, safety and production standards
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant welding experience
- Previous hands-on trailer assembly experience
- Demonstrated MIG welding skills on steel
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Ability to accurately measure, align and fit components
- Practical experience with trailer chassis, suspension and braking systems
- Knowledge of air, electrical or hydraulic systems is advantageous
- Strong understanding of workshop tools and welding equipment
- Able to demonstrate genuine hands-on trade experience
- High level of attention to detail and workmanship
- Reliable and committed approach to work
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements
- Welding certification is advantageous but not mandatory
