Job description

A long-established floor coverings business wants a commercial Flooring Installer in Perth, WA, for permanent full-time work.

You will install commercial floors for Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders on sites around Perth and the rest of Western Australia. You report to the Site Supervisor. You stick to your specialty, plan ahead and finish clean, working side by side with the builder's crew and other trades.

Success here is easy to measure. Quality floors, on programme, done safely, with few defects. Suitably qualified installers from overseas can get visa sponsorship.

Key responsibilities

  • Install your specialist coverings: sheet vinyl, LVT and other resilient floors with welding and coving, or carpet and carpet tiles
  • Grind, patch, prime and level subfloors
  • Run moisture and flatness tests first and log the readings
  • Read drawings and finishes schedules; set out and measure precisely
  • Work with the builder's team and other trades to stay on programme; check, store and protect materials and cut waste
  • Fill in timesheets, daily reports, quality checklists and photo records; follow site safety rules, inductions and safe work method statements

Requirements

  • At least 3 years in commercial flooring, Australian or overseas
  • Skills in at least one trade: subfloor prep, carpet installation or vinyl installation
  • Floor covering trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Flooring Technology) or equivalent overseas qualification or experience; preferred, not required
  • WA White Card, or able to get one before starting
  • Driver's licence valid in Australia
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Good communication in English on site
