Key responsibilities
- General servicing and repairs on petrol and diesel vehicles
- Find and fix electrical, electronic and mechanical faults using diagnostic equipment
- Gearbox, clutch, engine, brake, suspension and steering repairs
- Tyre fitting, puncture repairs, rotations and balancing
- Air-conditioning diagnosis and repair, where licensed; service 4WDs, utes, light commercial vehicles and other vehicles
- Inspections, road tests and final checks
- Parts ordering, job records, and a clean, safe workshop with well-kept tools
Requirements
- Trade qualification in automotive work, or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Experience in servicing, repairs and diagnosing faults
- Good knowledge of petrol and diesel engines, 4WDs and light commercial vehicles in particular
- Can work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving; hands-on with diagnostic equipment and electrical fault finding
- Current driver's licence or equivalent overseas licence, subject to Australian licensing requirements
- Happy to live and work in a remote Northern Territory community
- Tyre fitting, diesel repair, automotive air conditioning or remote workshop experience is an advantage
