Job description

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care
  • Provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
  • Support women throughout labour and birth
  • Assess, monitor and document maternal and newborn wellbeing
  • Recognise changes in clinical condition and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Develop and maintain individualised care plans
  • Provide clear education and guidance to women and families
  • Support breastfeeding, newborn care and early parenting needs
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, neonatal and allied health professionals
  • Participate in clinical education and ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in maternity services and patient outcomes
  • Provide appropriate support and guidance to student and graduate midwives

Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
  • Recognised qualification in Midwifery
  • Demonstrated experience in maternity or midwifery care
  • Strong commitment to woman-centred and evidence-based practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work confidently within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to maintaining clinical competence and professional development
  • Experience in birth suite, antenatal, postnatal or special care nursery is highly regarded
  • Ability to work permanent full-time, part-time or casual hours
  • Eligible onshore applicants requiring visa sponsorship will be considered
  • Ability to satisfy Australian professional registration and employment requirements
