Key responsibilities

  • Carry out climbing-based tree-care operations safely and professionally
  • Complete pruning, trimming and removal work according to project requirements
  • Perform ground duties and provide effective support to climbing operations
  • Operate chainsaws, climbing systems and arboricultural equipment safely
  • Use appropriate climbing, rigging and tree-care techniques
  • Work across residential, commercial, council, utility and land-clearance projects
  • Follow site-specific risk controls and established safety procedures
  • Assess work conditions and select appropriate methods for each task
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Work efficiently alongside arborists, ground crew and other site personnel
  • Maintain and inspect climbing gear, tools, machinery and personal protective equipment
  • Keep vehicles, equipment and work areas clean and organised
  • Participate in health and safety meetings and refresher training
  • Engage in ongoing skills development and industry training
  • Maintain professional standards when dealing with clients and team members
  • Support the wider team in completing projects safely and on schedule

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 NZQA Arboriculture qualification or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of professional tree-climbing experience
  • Demonstrated practical competency in climbing and ground operations
  • Class 1 Driver Licence, Restricted or higher
  • Ability to work safely at height and in physically demanding outdoor conditions
  • Good physical fitness and practical coordination
  • Strong work ethic and dependable approach to employment
  • Positive attitude towards teamwork and learning
  • High level of personal responsibility and safety awareness
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and professional standards
  • Ability to provide evidence of relevant qualifications and industry experience
  • Overseas qualifications and experience may be considered subject to verification
  • Level 3 Utility Arboriculture qualification is advantageous
  • Class 2 Driver Licence is advantageous
  • International applicants must meet applicable New Zealand employment and immigration requirements
  • Candidates seeking sponsorship must satisfy the requirements of the relevant employer-supported visa pathway
