Job description

A Vietnamese restaurant group in regional New South Wales is hiring 3 experienced cooks and chefs to start straight away.

The base is Port Macquarie, the role is full-time and the pay range is $65,000 to $80,000 a year. Expect a fast commercial kitchen and a team that needs people who are motivated, reliable and hard working.

Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) holders can apply. For suitable, eligible long-term candidates, Skills in Demand (subclass 482) sponsorship may be considered, subject to business needs, eligibility, work performance and immigration requirements. It is not automatic.

You must be already in Australia and willing to work at the restaurant you are allocated. You may need to finish initial training in Port Macquarie first.

Key responsibilities

  • Cook Vietnamese and Asian-style dishes to standard
  • Keep quality, plating and portions consistent
  • Run prep and stock rotation, and keep the kitchen clean
  • Follow food safety and hygiene rules
  • Stay quick through lunch and dinner rushes
  • Work with the kitchen and front of house teams
  • Help each service run smoothly

Requirements

  • Commercial Cookery qualifications or relevant professional kitchen experience
  • Asian kitchen experience highly preferred (Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese or other Asian restaurants)
  • Noodle soups, stir-fries, rice dishes and other Asian meals: experience is an advantage
  • Can work independently and handle busy service
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to high standards
  • Flexible availability, weekends included
  • Must be currently located in Australia
  • Willing to work at the allocated restaurant
