An established agricultural machinery business in New Zealand is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician with proven experience in diesel, heavy automotive or agricultural machinery. This role is ideal for a technician who wants their qualifications, hands-on experience and technical ability to be recognised in a professional New Zealand service environment. You’ll support farmers and rural contractors by servicing and repairing a diverse range of modern agricultural equipment. From routine maintenance to complex breakdowns, you'll use your technical judgement, diagnostic skills and practical experience to identify problems and deliver dependable solutions. The role also provides continued exposure to evolving agricultural technology, specialist diagnostic systems and leading machinery brands, backed by ongoing technical training and development.
Requirements
- • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults
- • Service and maintain tractors and a wide range of agricultural machinery
- • Carry out mechanical repairs, component replacement and preventative maintenance
- • Use specialist diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine repair requirements
- • Respond to machinery breakdowns and service requests in the field
- • Assess technical problems and apply practical, efficient repair solutions
- • Work with modern tractor systems, harvesting equipment and specialised farm machinery
- • Inspect, test and commission machinery following servicing or repairs
- • Maintain a high standard of workmanship across every service assignment
- • Complete accurate service reports, job cards and technical documentation
- • Keep customers informed about faults, repairs and recommended maintenance
- • Provide professional and dependable customer service at customer sites
- • Manage field assignments effectively while working independently
- • Work with other technicians and service staff when additional technical support is required
- • Maintain current knowledge of agricultural machinery technology and diagnostic systems
- • Attend technical training and manufacturer-related development programmes
- • Participate in the on-call and breakdown response roster
