We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for full-time, permanent opportunities in Western Australia with an established engineering and maintenance operation. The position is suited to tradespeople with a strong background in mechanical maintenance who are confident working with industrial machinery, fixed plant, mobile equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and mechanical refurbishment. Key responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repair and overhaul of industrial machinery
  • Fit, assemble and install mechanical components and equipment
  • Maintain fixed plant and mobile equipment in workshop and site environments
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Determine appropriate materials, equipment and work methods for assigned tasks
  • Dismantle machinery and inspect components for damage, wear and defects
  • Refurbish and rebuild mechanical equipment to required standards
  • Use measuring equipment to check component dimensions, tolerances, alignment and fit
  • Perform cutting, grinding, pressing and metal-forming activities
  • Install, maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic pipework and systems
  • Carry out threading, bending, cutting and related pipework tasks
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and conduct fault-finding on industrial machinery
  • Complete preventative maintenance and breakdown repair activities
  • Support equipment upgrades, refurbishment programs and capital works
  • Identify potential mechanical issues and communicate maintenance requirements
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to inspections, repairs and maintenance
  • Work cooperatively with tradespeople, supervisors and client-site personnel
  • Maintain consistent quality, accuracy and reliability in all mechanical work
  • Follow workplace safety, environmental and operational procedures
  • Contribute positively to a Zero Harm workplace culture

Requirements

  • Recognised Fitting and Turning trade qualification or equivalent mechanical trade qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical fitting experience
  • Demonstrated background in heavy industrial, manufacturing, workshop or site-based environments
  • Practical experience maintaining, repairing and overhauling industrial machinery
  • Experience working with fixed plant and mobile equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to accurately interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding ability
  • Competence using precision measuring equipment and mechanical tools
  • Employment history that can be independently verified
  • Qualifications and practical experience that can be supported with appropriate evidence
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Understanding of and commitment to Zero Harm principles
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with other trades and site teams
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is advantageous
  • Current driver's licence
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and meet fitness-for-work requirements
  • Availability to work across workshop and client-site environments in Western Australia
  • International applicants with suitable and verifiable qualifications and experience may be considered for 482 or 494 visa sponsorship or visa transfer
