Job description

Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic wanted in Auckland. Two vacancies, family-owned fleet specialist, modern workshop.

Mostly trucks and trailers, plus buses and smaller commercial vehicles. Hours are 40 or more a week, plus a half-day on Saturday that is rostered. Safety is the culture in the workshop.

Key responsibilities

  • Servicing on a schedule for heavy and commercial vehicles
  • Brake and steering repairs
  • Rebuilding and repairing diesel engines, gearboxes and drivetrains
  • Getting vehicles ready for COF and VCA
  • Diagnosing faults and covering general mechanical work
  • Keeping the workshop clean and safe

Requirements

  • Diesel Technician (Level 4 or equivalent), or a minimum of 3 years in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry
  • Clean driver’s licence, minimum Class 2 (willing to progress to Class 4/5)
  • Works alone or in a team; committed to safety
  • Brings a well-equipped toolbox of their own
  • Good at written and verbal communication
  • Happy to work a rostered half-day on Saturday
