Job description
An established manufacturing business in Melbourne, Victoria is strengthening its maintenance capability and seeking a reliable, experienced Maintenance Fitter to support the performance and reliability of its production equipment. The ideal candidate will bring genuine maintenance experience, recognised mechanical trade qualifications and a practical approach to diagnosing, repairing and preventing equipment problems.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining and servicing mechanical production equipment
- Investigating machinery faults and determining root causes
- Responding to urgent mechanical breakdowns
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance
- Repairing and replacing faulty mechanical components
- Maintaining conveyor and material-handling systems
- Working with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Monitoring equipment condition and performance
- Completing maintenance work orders and CMMS documentation
- Maintaining accurate service and repair records
- Communicating maintenance requirements with production teams
- Supporting engineering and reliability initiatives
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures
- Minimising equipment downtime and production interruptions
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and housekeeping
Requirements
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
- Minimum 1 year Australian mechanical maintenance experience
- Demonstrated experience in an industrial environment
- FMCG or manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Practical understanding of industrial machinery
- Experience with conveyors, chains, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Strong safety and quality awareness
- Reliable attendance and professional work ethic
- Ability to work effectively within a maintenance team
- Currently based in Australia
- Willingness to relocate within NSW
- Must meet applicable requirements for 482 visa sponsorship or transfer
