Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver mechanical engineering solutions for a variety of projects
  • Produce mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation
  • Take ownership of engineering assignments throughout the project lifecycle
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to building services and related project requirements
  • Contribute to projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial, and other sectors
  • Assess project requirements and develop technically sound and practical solutions
  • Coordinate mechanical services with other engineering and design disciplines
  • Work with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams to achieve project objectives
  • Review designs and technical documentation for accuracy, quality, and compliance
  • Identify engineering risks, design issues, and project challenges and develop appropriate solutions
  • Attend technical meetings, design reviews, site inspections, and project coordination activities
  • Monitor assigned deliverables and contribute to the successful and timely completion of projects
  • Provide technical knowledge and professional input to colleagues and project teams
  • Develop trusted working relationships with clients and key stakeholders
  • Contribute to business development and identify opportunities for future engineering work
  • Share technical knowledge and support a culture of continuous professional development
  • Maintain high standards of engineering quality, safety, professional practice, and compliance
  • Contribute to improving project processes and delivering better engineering outcomes

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant professional experience in mechanical building services, industrial engineering, or consulting
  • Demonstrated history of successfully delivering mechanical engineering projects
  • Strong technical knowledge and practical understanding of mechanical engineering design
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working on projects with varying scope, value, and technical complexity
  • Ability to take ownership of engineering work and meet project requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships
  • Good organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a professional team
  • Commitment to safe, practical, efficient, and high-quality engineering outcomes
  • Commercial awareness and willingness to contribute to client and business development
  • Chartered Professional Engineer status or progress towards professional registration is advantageous
  • Ability to provide genuine and verifiable evidence of qualifications and relevant professional experience
  • Employment history and technical experience must be relevant to the position applied for
  • Willingness to participate in appropriate candidate verification and credential assessment processes
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Strong professional standards and a collaborative approach to engineering work
  • Eligibility to meet New Zealand immigration and work visa requirements
