Key responsibilities
- Run full mental health assessments
- Give each patient individualised nursing care
- Provide support for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other conditions
- Undertake risk assessment
- Run mental state examinations
- Monitor patients
- Administer medication
- Watch how treatment is working
- Support patients through crisis intervention
- Assist with recovery planning
- Support therapeutic engagement
- Team up with nursing colleagues, psychiatrists, psychologists and allied health staff and record clinical information precisely
- Assist with discharge planning
Requirements
- Registered Nurse whose experience includes inpatient mental health or psychiatric nursing
- Hold AHPRA registration, or be eligible to obtain Australian nursing registration
- Strong skills in assessing patients clinically and managing risk
- Communication skills that are strong
- Worked in acute mental health, adult psychiatry or specialist inpatient services
- A commitment to care that is recovery-focused, trauma-informed and person-centred
- Employer sponsorship sought through the Subclass 482 visa
