Job description

A national manufacturer needs a hands-on Production / Site Manager to run its rural plant near Perth.

The job is full-time, based at a rural production site about two hours out of Perth, WA. You run the whole operation. Machinery is the focus. You report to senior managers on the East Coast and work with plenty of autonomy.

A manufacturing or mechanical background is needed. You must be willing to live near the site at least Monday to Friday. Applicants who need sponsorship are welcome if they have the right skills, the right experience and strong communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Run production output and workflow
  • Keep the site safe
  • Manage staff, rosters, quality control and stock
  • Work with local suppliers, contacts and outside maintenance and transport contractors
  • Fix equipment problems on site and call in external suppliers when needed
  • Have input on facility upgrades and processes, keep stakeholders informed and keep the team productive

Requirements

  • Mechanical or fitting background (qualifications preferred)
  • Past experience leading people in production
  • Knowledge of machine maintenance and preventative schedules
  • Can find production bottlenecks and plan production
  • Can work alongside skilled and unskilled staff
  • Inventory control experience
  • Understanding of logistics
  • Strong organisation skills and a safety-first attitude
  • Can communicate with the team and keep it motivated
  • Comfortable with software for admin and system functions
  • Happy to live rurally at least Monday to Friday
