Boners, slicers and trimmers, and slaughtermen are wanted now for client sites around Australia.

This is a Skilled Meat Worker contract listed out of Sydney, NSW, with work at sites across the country. Beef, veal, lamb, sheep, pork, goat and other red meat experience all counts. Say plainly which species you know and which tasks you handle alone.

Key responsibilities

  • Boners take apart carcasses and quarters independently, pull bones out cleanly and cut commercial beef/veal, lamb/sheep and pork portions without losing yield or quality
  • Slicers and trimmers prepare meat to customer and production specs
  • Trimmers strip off excess fat, gristle and unwanted material, cut waste and keep quality steady
  • Slaughtermen run species-specific slaughter floor tasks: stunning and shackling where authorised, sticking and bleeding, hide removal or skinning, dressing and evisceration
  • Everyone sticks to safe food handling practices

Requirements

  • Commercial meat work experience and hands-on skills that match the role you apply for
  • Boners: strong knife work plus accurate deboning and trimming
  • Can name the species, cuts and duties you have covered
  • Employment history that can be verified, and references where available; any qualifications and skills assessments, if available
  • Q Fever vaccination or proof of immunity, where the role has it as a requirement
