Job description

A civil and mining training provider near Perth is hiring 2 trainer-assessors to teach heavy plant operation.

The location is Perth, WA, with the training ground about 60 minutes north of the CBD. The type is full-time, Monday to Friday, on 8-12 hour shifts. The 2 openings are 1 civil trainer & assessor, with alternating Saturdays available, and 1 dozer / excavator trainer on production mining D11 and 3600 gear, split across 2 mine sites.

Students learn one-on-one on a live mine. No FIFO, home nightly, plus optional FIFO Rigid Haul Truck training. Casual, part-time and job-share applicants are welcome. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver nationally recognised training and competency-based assessments, keeping each one honest so only competent operators pass
  • Train operators one-on-one on live mine site machinery and mentor them toward civil and mining jobs
  • Stick to site procedures, best practice, the WHS Act 2020, Mines Safety and Inspection legislation and RTO standards
  • Fill in training and assessment records accurately
  • Keep the learning environment safe, professional and positive alongside a supportive team
  • Mining trainer only: help the civil side when Dozer & Excavator courses are not on

Requirements

  • Current TAE40122, TAE40116 or TAE40110
  • Relevant civil & mining equipment operating experience
  • Supervisory background desirable
  • Handles pressure and makes decisions
  • Works alone or in a team
  • Good time management (customers have paid for the training)
  • Passionate about helping people; proud of high safety and training standards
  • Reliable, professional, punctual
  • Passes a pre-employment medical and daily breathalyser checks
  • Civil Trainer: civil plant competency and experience highly regarded across units such as RIIMPO321F (Front End Loader), RIIMPO318F (Skid Steer Loader), RIIMPO317F (Roller), RIIHAN309F (Telehandler), RIIMPO337E (Articulated Haul Truck), RIIMPO338E (Rigid Haul Truck), RIIMPO206D (Bulk Water Truck), RIIMPO320F (Civil Construction Excavator) and RIIHAN311F (Integrated Tool Carrier)
  • Mining Trainer: RIIMPO323E Dozer, RIIMPO324F Grader (RII qualifications desirable, not required); civil units above are a plus
