Job description
Full-time Automation Technician wanted at a busy factory in New Zealand. You will program PLCs, support control systems and tackle plant improvement jobs.
You would work 45 hours across weekdays, usually starting at 7am, with lots of project work. Experienced automation colleagues at several of the employer's sites are on hand, and you will see AI and robotics in action as the plant modernises.
Candidates based in New Zealand are preferred, but overseas applicants with the right experience are encouraged to apply. The employer says it may be able to sponsor an Accredited Employer Work Visa for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities
- Program and commission PLCs
- Troubleshoot HMI and SCADA systems
- Find and fix electrical and control faults
- Run automation upgrades and improvement projects
- Keep plant reliable and performing
- Work with engineering, maintenance and production, and help bring in new automation tech
Requirements
- A trade qualification in electrical work, or similar
- Ideally 4-5+ years working in manufacturing or industrial automation
- Experience with common PLC platforms and strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Able to read electrical drawings and control schematics; self-motivated and practical
