Job description

This Project Engineer job in Brisbane is with a growing Queensland utility and civil contractor, which needs an engineer to take pipe and civil projects from planning to handover.

The role is full-time and hands-on, with drilling setups, concrete, manholes and slabs on the work list. The ad lists visa sponsorship, and it is for applicants who are already in Australia with full work rights.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine plans for civil and utility works, whether sewer, water or gas
  • Draft drawings and specs, with quantities, for tender packages
  • Oversee budgets, programs and the reporting of costs
  • Deal with authorities and subcontractors as well as clients and asset owners
  • Answer technical questions from site teams and handle RFIs and variations
  • Check that quality, safety and environmental requirements are met, and contribute to ITPs and SWMS, and to risk assessments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, completed
  • Experience gained in pipeline, utility or civil construction
  • Working knowledge of Australian Standards plus Queensland water and sewer authority requirements
  • Knowledge of precast and in-situ concrete
  • Handling the ordering of materials, plant and equipment hire
  • Strong skills in communicating
  • Strong skills in dealing with stakeholders
  • Current Queensland driver's licence in hand
  • Full work rights in Australia
  • Desirable: project software experience (AutoCAD or Civil 3D) and a White Card
