Job description
Perth trailer workshop hiring a hands-on body builder who can also fix trailers.
The job is Heavy Vehicle Body Builder / Trailer Mechanic. It is based in Perth, WA, and it is full-time.
The workshop is busy and well established. You fabricate, weld and repair trailer bodies and structures across many makes and models. You also inspect, service and fix trailers, mostly the brakes, suspension and running gear. Expect to read technical drawings and solve problems on the spot.

Key responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld trailer bodies and structures
- Repair structural damage and bodywork on many trailer makes and models
- Inspect and service trailers
- Diagnose and fix trailer faults
- Repair brakes, suspension and running gear
- Read technical drawings
- Sort out problems hands-on
Requirements
- Solid welding and fabrication ability
- Can read technical drawings
- Has worked with steel and aluminium
- Proven experience on heavy vehicles and trailers
- Strong at fault-finding and mechanical repairs
- Knows running-gear brands like Hendrickson, SAF, BPW and K-Hitch
- Electrical systems experience
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems experience
- Trade qualifications in the field and/or solid experience in the industry
- Nice to have: HR or other truck licence, forklift licence, confined space certification, intermediate rigging, overhead crane experience
