Job description
We are looking for a proven Light Vehicle Mechanic who can demonstrate the technical knowledge, practical experience and reliability required to keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently. This opportunity is suited to an automotive professional who takes pride in accurate fault diagnosis, quality repairs and preventative maintenance. You will play an important role in maintaining vehicle availability and ensuring every vehicle meets required safety and roadworthiness standards. The position is initially offered as a 6-month contract, with both full-time and part-time options available. There is potential for the successful candidate to progress into a permanent position. Requirements
- • Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and identify mechanical and electronic faults
- • Use diagnostic testing and practical assessment methods to determine vehicle problems
- • Carry out repairs to engines, transmissions, steering and braking systems
- • Perform wheel alignment and air-conditioning servicing and repairs
- • Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer requirements
- • Inspect and repair vehicles that have sustained accident or other damage
- • Check vehicles for safety, roadworthiness and compliance with relevant state requirements
- • Inspect mechanical and electronic components and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions
- • Maintain complete and accurate vehicle service and repair records
- • Work closely with the vehicle operations team to minimise vehicle downtime
- • Ensure vehicles are serviced and ready to meet customer booking requirements
- • Monitor spare-parts requirements and assist with stock and inventory management
- • Discuss diagnostic findings, repair recommendations and estimated costs with management
- • Maintain a clean, organised and WorkSafe-compliant workshop
- • Take responsibility for the quality, accuracy and safety of completed work
- • Support workshop operations while working effectively both independently and within a team
