Job description

A busy country hotel near Queenstown wants a Chef de Partie to cook for weddings, functions and daily service.

The job is full-time and permanent in Queenstown, New Zealand. Pay is $32 - $38 per hour. You get a minimum of 30 hours a week over a 4-day roster with nights and weekends. Start is immediate. You stay until mid-April 2027, when summer ends.

You need a minimum of 2 years in a similar fast-paced kitchen and must be able to cook Kiwi / western food. Citizens and permanent residents get preference, as do people with at least 6 months on their work visa. Sponsorship may be available for the right person.

Key responsibilities

  • Know every menu, function and daily special
  • Lead the kitchen and service when the senior chef is away
  • Run grills, fryers and microwaves safely and control their temperatures
  • Keep stock levels and quality right, and clean prep and service areas each day
  • Cook each part of a dish properly, to standard and on time, following recipes and instructions

Requirements

  • 2 years' commercial kitchen experience
  • Kiwi / western cuisine cooking experience
  • Preferred: a hospitality, cookery or culinary qualification
  • Quick, safe work habits
  • Excellent verbal communication
  • Can work rostered weekends and nights
  • Committed until mid-April 2027
