Job description

A busy café in Hamilton needs a Chef for a permanent, full-time kitchen job.

Here are the basics. You would work in Hamilton, New Zealand, on a permanent full-time contract. The kitchen covers the café, functions and catering. Your shifts are prep, cooking and running the menu, with high standards for quality, plating and cleanliness.

Bookings vary a lot, from walk-in café guests and groups to tour parties and events such as weddings, birthdays, high teas and Christmas functions. You work solo at times and with the team at others. The employer is accredited, so it can sponsor staff on the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).

Key responsibilities

  • Prep and cook daily for café service, functions and catering

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 months' previous Chef experience in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen
  • Strong prep, cooking and food presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures
  • Can manage time well and work under pressure in busy service
  • Strong organisational skills, works independently and in a team, with a positive, reliable attitude and pride in delivering quality food
