A busy waterfront restaurant in Northland, New Zealand, needs a Sous Chef to back up its Executive Chef and keep the kitchen running well.

Key responsibilities

  • Step in for the Executive Chef when they are off
  • Tell all chefs what is needed each day
  • Keep stock levels and stock standards right
  • Update timetables, leave rosters and attendance registers
  • Follow hygiene rules; report maintenance issues and see them through
  • Link front of house with the kitchen and check each plate for quality, size, look and temperature
  • Train staff on the job, fairly and politely
